Myles Turner, a center for Indiana, will be out for at least one week after breaking his ankle in the first game of the year.
After missing the team’s season opener on Wednesday, Indiana Pacers big Myles Turner will have to wait even longer to make his debut.
This is hardly the promising beginning to Myles Turner’s season of recovery. When you consider that he is in a contract year, it is much less desirable.
Turner fell on a ball boy’s foot just before his first game since January, hurting his ankle and keeping him from playing in his first game of the season.
According to a source on Thursday morning, Turner will miss at least one week, meaning the earliest he could play would be on October 28 at Washington.
According to some sources, Turner will be out for at least a week when he landed on a ball boy beneath the basket while warming up at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to face the Washington Wizards, injuring his ankle. In its place, third-year center Jalen Smith started the game, in which Indiana lost 114–107.
Turner was anticipated to start for the first time since January 14. When he talked with reporters less than two hours before the game, coach Rick Carlisle wasn’t even aware that anything had transpired.
Turner last participated in a game on January 17 after being limited to 42 games last season due to a left foot ailment. The Pacers took him in the first round of the 2k15 draft; he has been among the best shot blockers in the league. He played 42 games in 2021–22, averaging 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks.
Turner’s health is something the Pacers will want to maintain, especially if they plan to move him. When he’s ready to recover from this injury, they’ll probably treat him with even more caution because of his history of injuries, which may make it hard for them to obtain a reasonable trade price.
