Heat's Butler statement

Heat’s Butler: “Despite our 2-5 start, we’re going to win the champion.”

November 2, 2022

Some are beginning to question the Miami Heat’s ability to contend for a championship after a 2-5 start.

The Heat was the top seed in the Eastern Conference the previous season and missed the NBA Finals by one win. Despite several teams acquiring more skill to their rosters throughout the offseason, team president Pat Riley thought the squad already had enough talent to win a championship and declined to make other additions.

But the first two weeks of the season haven’t gone as expected. They have struggled with inconsistency and exposed significant flaws.

Even so, at least one Heat player has hope for a turnaround. In an interview with The Athletic, Forward Jimmy Butler said they would finally come together in time to make a strong postseason run.

Butler insisted that no matter what anyone thinks, we’re still going to win the title. We’re f*cking going to win the title. I will inform you. We started 0-5, and I could care less.

The Heat are back to action on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors, the current champions.
