Warriors’ Jordan Poole breaks silence on the Draymond Green incident

October 17, 2022

Warriors guard Jordan Poole spoke for the first time about his altercation with Draymond Green during a team practice when he could see him being punched and kicked.

“He apologized, and we’re going to deal with it ourselves,” Poole told members of the media on Sunday. “We’re going to play basketball, and everyone in our locker room knows what it takes to win a championship. We’ll do that on the court.

“That is all I have to say on this matter,” he continued. “We’re here to win championships and keep hanging banners. I’m listening to anything about the contract situation, contract extensions, back-to-back championships we’ve won, anything basketball-related.”

Green returned to the team after leaving and received an undisclosed fine for hitting Poole during practice. A video leaked by TMZ shows Green slapping Poole in the face and then exchanging words after initial reports of an altercation between the two. Green has since publicly apologized for his actions.

There have also been rumors that the spat happened because Green was jealous or upset about Poole’s eventual extension and potential contract situation, but Green has dismissed the idea. After Green apologized, Poole and the Warriors agreed to a four-year, $140 million extension.
