According to Clippers coach Ty Lue, Leonard has not had a setback, and the team is staying exceedingly careful with its franchise player.
Kawhi Leonard of the LA Clippers was ruled out of Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Thursday’s Clippers-Thunder matchup due to stiffness in his surgically repaired right knee during a pregame shootaround (8 ET, League Pass).
“We want to be careful, make sure we’re doing the right thing for him; even though he wanted to play, we just didn’t think it was prudent,” coach Tyronn Lue said before tipoff at Paycom Center. “He may be angry with us all he wants, but he’s not clever right now.”
Leonard, who sat out Tuesday’s game in Oklahoma City, will return to Los Angeles on Wednesday to undergo knee therapy.
“We have to be sure we’re doing the right thing by sending him back to Los Angeles.” because he has superior rehabilitation resources there.”
Coach Tyronn Lue stated before the Paycom Center game that “we want to be careful; even though he wanted to play, we just didn’t think it was wise, so please check that we’re treating him appropriately.” He can be furious with us if he wants to, but he’s not acting wisely right now, according to Tyronn Lue.
Leonard, a spectator at Tuesday’s game in Oklahoma City, will return to Los Angeles on Wednesday to get his knee treated.
“We must ensure that sending him back to Los Angeles is the proper course of action because his rehabilitation is better supported there.
Leonard had two appearances this season off the bench, playing 21 minutes in each of them. These were his first games after having surgery to repair a partly torn ACL in July 2021.
In 42 minutes of play, Leonard has tallied 25 points, 13 rebounds, and an 8 for 18 field goal percentage.
