Point guard Gabe Vincent has been an enormous asset to the Miami Heat thus far this season, and the 26-year-old will get baller some interest in the summer’s free agency market.
A source predicts that Vincent will have a strong market when he becomes an unrestricted free agency after this season because of his skill set.
As an unrestricted free agency this summer, Vincent should get interested as an “upper-level backup point guard with defensive toughness and some tough-shot-making prowess, now that he’s demonstrated what he’s capable of when given starter minutes,” according to Frank Urbina. Max Strus, who is also scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, puts Miami in a similar bind. It will be interesting to see which players the Heat try harder to maintain.
In 25.2 minutes per game, Vincent has contributed significantly to the Heat this season, scoring 9.5 points, dishing out 2.7 assists, and pulling down 2.2 rebounds. He won’t likely earn a massive offer in free agency, but he has already shown that he merits a multiyear contract.
One of the many reasons the Heat appear to have turned a corner heading into the 2022–23 season is Vincent. In their first 18 games, the Heat only managed seven victories. Many predicted that the squad would not advance to the playoffs this season at the time.
However, the team is starting to make a turnaround now. The Heat are currently four games above.500 with a 26-22 record and hold the No. 6 spot in the very competitive Eastern Conference.
Even though Jimmy Butler, a superstar, is having yet another fantastic season, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo are arguably more to blame for the Heat’s midseason comeback.
Herro and Adebayo have outstanding seasons for the Heat, averaging 20.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists each game, and 21.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, respectively.
A position in the 2023 NBA Playoffs looks all but inevitable for the Heat if they can continue winning at the rate they have recently. If Vincent assists the Heat in making a deep run in the playoffs, his stock in the free-agent market may quickly rise.
