Caleb Martin regarded as the Miami Heat’s top trade asset

January 18, 2023

Caleb Martin, a forward, is supposedly the Miami Heat’s biggest trade asset.

Martin may be Miami’s most valuable asset if the team decides to make a move, contrary to rumors that the Heat is trying to reach a trade agreement by the deadline, such as giving up point guard Kyle Lowry’s salary.

Fans may be surprised to find which player is thought to be the team’s finest asset given the trade speculations surrounding Miami, including Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, and Dewayne Dedmon, said Sam LaFrance of Heavy.com.

“Caleb Martin is the player, based on an Eastern Conference executive, as reported by a source.

Caleb Martin is the best asset, according to other organizations. He can play multiple positions, have a respectable contract, and either start or come off the bench. Martin will most likely need to be a part of any settlement they reach; the Exec informed Deveney.

Martin has started 35 games at forward for the Heat this year after signing a three-year contract worth more than $20.4 million with them in the offseason.

The 27-year-old has done a fantastic job filling in for P.J. Tucker, a free agent who departed Miami for the Philadelphia 76ers. Martin is shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from outside the arc for a scoring total of 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists a game.

He has demonstrated that he is a far superior offensive player overall than Tucker was, and he is under contract with the organization for the upcoming few seasons.

To climb up in the Eastern Conference standings, the Heat may attempt to enhance their squad at the trade deadline, but losing Martin in any deal would be a bitter pill to chew.

Despite dealing with injuries to players like Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Victor Oladipo, Bam Adebayo, Lowry, and others this season, Miami presently has the Eastern Conference No. 7 seed.

Martin has played a significant role despite missing some time due to a quad injury.

The Heat wanted to finish among the best teams in the East once more after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021–22. With a solid second half, they can still accomplish it, and it’s feasible that a move will assist them.

Martin is regarded as the team’s best asset, but the Heat will likely part ways with him once they can find a deal that drastically improves their squad this season.

In an effort to free up some salary space for subsequent seasons, it might make more sense for the Heat to try to dump Robinson or Lowry.
