Washington started the season with a 10-7 record, then endured a dire period in late November, losing 13 of 14 and plummeting in the standings. Since then, the Wizards have had one of the most winning streaks in the league, with multiple five-game winning and three-game losing streaks on two occasions. They lost back-to-back to Toronto and Milwaukee over the weekend, then responded with a buzzer-beater win in Detroit on Tuesday. Star guard Bradley Beal hit an empty shot with one second left, and Daniel Gafford made a putback to give his team the win.

Washington is doing good in this game, as the Wizards seem serious about making the playoffs. They beat back-to-back Atlanta and Toronto last week before losing to the Raptors in overtime and cornering NBA-leading Milwaukee on Sunday. They also have some momentum after their win at the buzzer in Detroit, knowing they can make a difference in the standings with two wins against Atlanta this week. The Hawks are on a four-game road trip, have lost three of their last four, and are on a five-game losing streak. They rely too much on offense and can only be trusted so far from home.
